Page turners assist students who have difficulty turning pages in a book. The inability to turn the pages of the book one is reading can result in frustration and/or losing his/her place in reading assignments. Giving the student the ability to turn the pages in his/her book without having to call for help, frees that student to read at his or her own pace.
There are several ways to assists students with independently turning pages in their books. Some students will be successful using pencil erasers or rubber-tipped head and hand pointers to turn pages of a book. There are teacher made page fluffers that can be inserted between the pages of a book. These allow students to be able to slip their fingers between the pages to turn each page.
Page turners are typically used with students who have limited fine or gross motor skills or with very young students.
